The Report Generator is capable to generate reports in any language. To generate a custom report, you have to create a new skin. A skin is a collection of templates and graphics to generate a report in a given language. Skins are useful to generate custom HTML and/or RTF reports. The Report Generator and the Convert Gedcom to HTML dialogs use your custom skins to create reports.
Important NoteCustom skins is a new feature to GenoPro. The software development kit (SDK) is still under construction. If you have suggestions to improve the report generator, or need features to better support JavaScript, VBScript, Java, XML or something else, please write to |

Enter a meaningful name for the skin you are about to create. The name of the skin must be less than 60 characters.
The skin language is to make it easier to locate a skin in a long list. For instance, if you want to create a skin in Spanish, you can keep the name "Generic Report" but select "ES - Spanish" as the language code. You can create skins in 139 languages.
The easiest way to create a new skin is to make a copy of an existing skin, then modify the templates you want to customize. This combo lists the name of each skin followed by their language code in braces { }.

Select the name of the skin you want to edit its properties. The language code of the skin is displayed within braces { }.
Launch the Windows Explorer to locate the skin on disk. This button is designed to make it easy to do file maintenance.
Create a new skin. Each created skin is stored in a separate folder (directory) so it can be easily backed u.
Change the name of the skin and/or change its language code.
Permanently delete the skin from disk. Only skins stored on disk may be deleted. Built-in skins shipped with GenoPro cannot be deleted. Instead of deleting a skin, you can use the "Browse Folder" button to launch the Windows Explorer and move the folder to a different location.
Compress all the files in the skin's folder into a single file. GenoPro is doing some serious development to make it easy to share skins over the Internet.
This option is unchecked when the skin properties are read-only. To edit the skin properties, click on this checkbox and the skin will uncompress (unpack) itself into a folder on disk. The technical documentation to edit skins can be found here.
Display the HTML templates to generate an HTML report. You may add as many HTML files as you wish, but you must have the following three HTML files to have a valid HTML skin: family.htm, individual.htm and index.names.htm. HTML reports may include JavaScript and VBScript.
Clicking on the "Edit" button will list all the HTML files and will launch your default HTML editor. If you have Front Page installed, GenoPro will automatically launch Front Page to edit the HTML files.
There are only two RTF templates available:
Family.rtf - Generate an RTF report for a family.
Individual.rtf - Generate an RTF report for an an individual.
An RTF report is a Microsoft-Word document. You must have Microsoft Word installed to edit or print an RTF report. If you do not with to create a custom RTF report, simply delete the RTF files using Windows Explorer.
The file skin.dic contains frequently-used names specific to a given languages. In the file skin.dic, you will find the name of each calendar month (Jan, Feb, Mar) and the translation of common names such as "husband" or "wife".
Enter your name here.
Enter your home page so people using your skin can visit you on the Net.
Enter the URL where the user can see a preview sample report of the skin. It is much easier to click on a link and view a sample report than it is to generate a full report. Typically this URL is a web page of your genealogy generated using this skin.
Enter comments or information pertinent about the skin. For instance, you may specify the skin requires Java to run.
